Abstract

Pengomposan adalah salah satu metode yang paling banyak digunakan untuk pengolahan limbah pertanian/limbah padat. Produk dari proses pengomposan adalah kompos. Biochar berasal dari bahan tanaman yang mengalami pembakaran tidak sempurna. Biochar menunjukkan potensi sebagai amandemen tanah untuk meningkatkan kualitas tanah dan penyerapan karbon dengan cara mengubah sifat fisiko-kimia tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenis bahan baku biochar terhadap karakteristik pengomposan biochar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) dengan  faktor perlakuan adalah jenis Biochar dengan 4 taraf yaitu B1 = Sekam Padi; B2 = Serbuk gergaji; B3 = Tandan kosong kelapa sawit; B4 = Jerami padi. Peubah  yang diamati yaitu suhu ( °c ), pH, kadar air (%), kadar volatil solid (%), kadar C – organik (%),  kadar nitrogen total (%), kadar lignin. Pemberian jenis biochar berpengaruh nyata terhadap suhu kompos, kadar air, pH, kadar volatil, kadar C-Oganik, kadar N Total, kadar lignin tertinggi  yaitu biochar jerami padi.
